Patriot Place Foodie Friday: Skipjack’s

Weekly showcase featuring the various dining options we have here at Patriot Place

The skipjack tuna is a species of tuna commonly found in the waters of the Pacific and Indian Oceans and known for its tenacity, strength, and versatility. When owner-operator Jeff Senior opened the first Skipjack’s in 1984, he chose the name to reflect his vision of a restaurant known for its aggressive pursuits of the highest quality ingredients, while keeping the menu affordable. The atmosphere at Skipjack’s has a modern, yet sophisticated, feel. One unique feature is the 25-foot wine wall, which allows guests to peek into the open kitchen.

The menu at Skipjack’s is diverse and offers a range of seafood dishes, from New England classics like Clam Chowder and Fish & Chips to the internationally inspired such as Thai Salmon and Swordfish Au Poivre. A staple at Skipjack’s is the Ginger Sea Bass. The ginger soy marinade flows throughout the fish to achieve a light caramelization on the outside that melts in your mouth and is served with fresh stir-fry vegetables and white rice. No visit is complete without sampling their innovative sushi rolls. Master Sushi Chef Otto has dedicated his life to perfecting the art of sushi making. Otto’s original sushi rolls are not only beautifully crafted but bursting with flavor. Some of his most loyal fans include former Patriots players (and current coach) Jerod Mayo and Stephen Gostkowski. Each plate is beautifully arranged, and the vibrant colors make for a visual feast.

The attention to detail also extends to the cocktail menu. Signature cocktails include a Mai Tai that’s a personal creation of Jeff Senior’s, a Manhattan made with house-made coconut-infused rum, and the must-try Blueberry Lemonade. Combining house infused Tito’s blueberry vodka and house made lemonade, the Blueberry Lemonade is summertime in a glass.

With a combination of flavors, textures, presentation, warm atmosphere and superb staff, Skipjack’s is an unforgettable dining experience.
